דרך אחת היא :
התבוננות על האותיות- כך הילד/ה לומדים להכיר את הצורות והגדלים של האותיות.
 
דרך שניה:
בצד השני של הפלייסמט האותיות מופיעיות בקו מקווקו יחד עם טוש מחיק
אפשר לעבור על האותיות ותרגל כתיבה לאט לאט למחוק ולרשום!
 
מומלץ להשתמש בטושים צבעוניים לאותיות כתב ודפוס כך יראו את הבדל בין האותיות.
 
אפשר להשתעשע עם ילדים ולשאול אותם שאלות על האותיות:
"מצא את האות..."
"מה הן אותיות סופיות?"
"באיזה אותיות משתמשים כדי לכתוב... בית?","עכשיו מילה יותר קשה- פטרוזיליה?"
"עכשיו אני אגיד לך אותיות ותגיד לי איזו מילה זו"
